Principal Message - June 6, 2025
Dear Severn Avenue Families,
Our last month of school has begun. Please take a moment to read through the following messages as there is important information and dates regarding upcoming events for the month of June.
Ultimate Frisbee workshop- June 4 & June 16
A generous donation from Endeavor Martial Arts Inc and School Council helped make Ultimate Days happen. On June 4 and June 16, two instructors will teach our students how to play Ultimate Frisbee (officially simply called ultimate). Ultimate is a non-contact team sport played with a disc flung by hand. This is run by the Ottawa-Carleton Ultimate Association.
Grade 6 Graduation and Leaving Ceremony- June 24 at 10:00-11:00 am in the Gym
We are very excited to welcome parents and guardians to our in-person leaving ceremony! Each student is permitted to invite up to 4 guests. We are hoping you can join us to celebrate your child’s graduation from Severn Avenue Public School! After the ceremony we plan to enjoy some light refreshments. Parking is very limited therefore please plan to arrive early to allow yourself extra time to find parking and avoid missing the start of the ceremony. Please follow all street parking signs to avoid being ticketed. Please do not block other cars in the parking lot or park on medians or paved areas that are not designated parking spots. If you wish to take your child home after the ceremony, please be sure to sign them out. We look forward to celebrating this milestone with you and your child!
An invitation has been sent to your email. If you have not yet, please reply to the invitation with the number of guests who are attending for your child’s graduation.
Hot temperatures- We do realize that in summer months we could have some really hot days. We continue to follow the directions from our board and monitor students while outside. We also encourage students to wear a hat, sunscreen, drink lots of water and stay in the shade as well as reduce the amount of physical activity while outside at recess. The classroom at times also becomes warm. Many classes will use our outdoor classroom (picnic tables) that have been strategically placed where they are covered in shade.
Talent Show- Severn’s Got Talent is back! Students are invited to share their talent with the school on Wednesday, June 18 from 9:45-11:15 am. Talents include piano, singing, dancing, magic, skill demonstrations, comedy skits and others. Parents/Guardians are welcome to attend.
Year end picnic- Please join us for our end of year picnic. Monday June 23, 2025 from 5:30-7:00 pm in the school yard. Please bring your own picnic and join other school families with games and social time to celebrate the end of the school year.
Report Cards- June 26 - Term 2 Reports will be available through school messenger. Your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) is required to access the report card. It can be found on previous report cards. If you are unable to locate your child’s OEN on a previous report card, please call the school office next week, as there will be very limited capacity to respond to queries once the school year ends.
Lost and Found- Encourage your child to look over the lost and found which is located outside of the main office to see if any of their belongings are there.
School Supplies- Your child’s teacher for the next school year will reach out just before Sept 2, 2025 with suggested school supplies to send with your child. In the meantime, below is a link of supplies suggested by the board for the start up of the next school year. If you require assistance with purchasing any of this please let us know in the office 613-829-8082
a common list of recommended personal use items for students.
Last Day- June 27 Students will be bringing home all of their belongings. Please send your child with an extra shopping/grocery bag in case their things don’t fit in their backpacks.
June 27- Our last school spirit day is Rainbow Day.
Not Returning? If your child will be moving schools for the 2025-2026 school year, please let us know. This information is very important as it allows us to complete our class placements more effectively.
Looking forward to seeing you at our end-of-year picnic June 23, 2025!
