The Family Reception Centre provides intake and assessment services for new students who will be attending Severn Avenue P.S. if they meet any of the following criteria:
- they are JK and SK students who have been in Canada less than one year
- they are JK - Grade 5 students whose first or primary language is not English
- they are new students who have not previously attended school in English
All students will be assessed to determine their level of English proficiency in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking and their abilities in Mathematics.
